Dr. Subramanian Swamy Strikes Again? Jet Etihad Deal Under SEBI Scanner
Etihad Airways was issued a “show cause notice” by SEBI (Securities and Exchange Board of India) last Wednesday as there are widespread reports over its violation of takeover rules when it acquired 24 percent stake in Jet Airways recently for $379. Abu Dhabi based Etihad has twenty one days to respond.
Though Dr. Subramanian Swamy is not seen directly linked with the SEBI notice, he is the one man army who has brought Jet Etihad deal into extreme focus. Putting it on the main pot-boiler, Dr. Swamy is not letting the issue die.
SEBI is one of the minor worries of Jet-Etihad. The main worry is the big can-opener in the hands of Dr. Swamy, who seems to have inside knowledge that this deal is the proverbial can of worms. According to Dr. Swamy’s sources the 2G payoff and the cancellation of 2G allotments by the Supreme Court of India may be directly linked to granting of “lightening speed” clearances to Jet-Etihad deal and providing it a red carpet in Indian skies at the cost of Indian national carrier Air India.
On Friday December 6, 2013, in a suit challenging the Jet-Etihad deal, on a plea by Dr.Subramanian Swamy the Supreme Court of India issued notices to the Government of India and the Indian income tax department to produce the controversial Niira Radia tapes relating to alleged irregularities in the aviation sector. Dr. Swamy had pointed out that another bench, led by Justice GS Singhvi, had ordered a CBI probe into the various irregularities in the aviation sector referred to in the Radia tapes.
Congress high-command may be losing its sleep over a lots of other cases, but Dr. Subramanian Swamy sees the 2G-Jet-Etihad-deal link a straight road to Tihar Jail for many of them. That is one of the many reasons Congress is going all out to stop Narendra Modi juggernaut. But Google Trends show that Narendra Modi may be the next Prime Minister.
Once Narendra Modi is Prime Minister, Dr. Subramanian Swamy may even hang some of the corrupt cabal for treason. That is the terror haunting them, and makes their stakes in 2014 parliament elections so high.
In the current case, even if Indian Express has sent the news about Dr. Subramanian Swamy, Jet-Etihad deal and Radia tapes to its archives, we are sure that we will be hearing more of it soon.
